Giving Thanks To You All
Happy Thanksgiving From Plannedscape

As a child or teen once Christmas presents got practical and it was a stretch to go trick-or-treating Thanksgiving quickly became my favorite holiday. If you layer lots of NFL football over gluttonously eating as much starch as possible, you've got my attention.

Then in the past 10 years or so, between the mashed potatoes running out and before removing our belts for pies we've started going around the table and saying what we're thankful for. What can I say, I could have seen the point of THANKSgiving earlier but better late than ever.

At the risk of being a little corny, here's my professional version of saying who and what I'm thankful for.

Thanks

I want to use this post to show my gratitude towards everyone who makes our work possible.

First, to our customers: thank you for choosing us. There are so many ways to go with your businesses and projects. We know how critical they are for your bottom line so I'm thankful for the trust you show us in making you your technology partner. Your feedback, creativity, and ambition drive the tools we build. Beyond that, I’m particularly lucky to genuinely enjoy your company. Some of us have logged a lot of time with each other and it's a rare treat to have a colleague become a friend.

To our team and collaborators: your dedication, curiosity, and craftsmanship are the foundation of everything we create. Software isn't just code and it isn't just math - we know very well there is a lot of art to writing great code and getting businesses to where they want to be. Also, there's more than one successful way to do things or multiple right and wrong decisions in software design scenarios - the friendly debates and patient listening makes for not only improved success but a more pleasant way to spend the workday.

To our industry partners and community: thank you for helping us grow. I feel lucky to have experts in our corner about things I'm less familiar with. I can pick up the phone or dash of a question in email and know I'm getting an expert, good-faith answer.

And finally, to everyone reading this: thank you for being part of the journey. This is six years in on this blog where I've been documenting things learned on the job, pontificating on half-baked theories of mine, giving some shorthand advice and explored interesting questions. If you're here, even if we've never talked, I'm thankful for you reading this.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us.
